The number that are on your sheet can be plotted on the map without living the Excel. No need of any fancy GIS software to draw it. You can create 3D map too. Bing maps is used as a base map. Map can be a globe or flat format. Power Map has all the options available to create great looking maps. It is a plugin used to draw maps on it. User need to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en-ca\/download\/details.aspx?id=38395\">download<\/a> this plugin from the Microsoft official website. Below is the step by step process to create a map along with other features.<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: 18pt;\">Step by step to draw the maps on the Power Map<br \/>\n<\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">First step is to download the plugin.<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: 15pt; text-decoration: underline;\">Downloading the Plugins<br \/>\n<\/span><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: 40pt;\"><strong>1.<\/strong><\/span> Go to the Microsoft official website to download the plugins.<span style=\"font-size: 16pt;\"><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en-ca\/download\/details.aspx?id=38395\">Download<\/a><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: 40pt;\"><strong>2.<\/strong><\/span> Then run the setup wizard by clicking the downloaded file <strong><em>Microsoft Power Map Preview for Excel.exe<br \/>\n<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; margin-left: 54pt;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/grindgis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/011115_1434_CreateMapso1.png\" alt=\"Microsoft Power Map Preview for Excel.exe\" width=\"531\" height=\"447\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: 40pt;\"><strong>3.<\/strong><\/span> Then press <strong>Next<\/strong> and checked the <strong>I Agree button<\/strong>, again press Next.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: 40pt;\"><strong>4.<\/strong><\/span> After all the above process the Power Map will run for a while to install all the required files. Then follow the <strong>a , b and c<\/strong> process to activate, if not just go to step 6.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; margin-left: 18pt;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/grindgis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/a77df5db8681ff38779ac62bd3e515cc.png\" alt=\"Power Map Icon\" width=\"648\" height=\"214\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Step to Add Power Map Tab if it does not show.<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ol style=\"margin-left: 54pt;\">\n<li>Go to <strong>File <\/strong>&gt; <strong>Options<\/strong> &gt; <strong>Add-Ins<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #363636; font-family: Segoe UI; font-size: 10pt; background-color: white;\">In the\u00a0<strong>Manage<\/strong>\u00a0box, click the drop-down arrow &gt;\u00a0<strong>COM Add-ins<\/strong>\u00a0&gt;\u00a0<strong>Go<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #363636; font-family: Segoe UI; font-size: 10pt; background-color: white;\">Check the\u00a0<strong>Microsoft Power Map <\/strong>&gt;\u00a0<strong>OK<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/grindgis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/17af52e872cadd498a6045cca53d3a91.png\" alt=\"Microsoft Power Map Option\" width=\"655\" height=\"542\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/grindgis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/aacdb8b4f6c36e91a940296044dfbdb7.png\" alt=\"Microsoft Power Map Option\" width=\"641\" height=\"286\" \/><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: 40pt;\"><strong>6.<\/strong><\/span> I have copied 50 largest populated cities in Canada from the Wikipedia. You can <a href=\"https:\/\/grindgis.com\/Data\/Create%20Maps on Microsoft Excel 2013 using Power Map.xls\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>download<\/strong><\/a> the clean data or you can get from <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/List_of_the_100_largest_municipalities_in_Canada_by_population\">Wikipedia<\/a>. Our target is to plot different type of maps from this data.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 18pt;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/grindgis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/011115_1434_CreateMapso11.png\" alt=\"Microsoft Excel Sample\" width=\"650\" height=\"238\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: 40pt;\"><strong>7.<\/strong><\/span> Then click on the Lunch Power Map from the Map icon.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 18pt;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/grindgis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/b5958a5866b855cd1cdc8dfaab3e35d2.png\" alt=\"Lunch Power Map \" width=\"576\" height=\"309\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: 40pt;\"><strong>8.<\/strong><\/span> It will take a few minutes to load the Map window and below is the map screen window.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 18pt;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/grindgis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/169ae176d7b50a21fd8431cc035d4489.png\" alt=\"Map Window\" width=\"678\" height=\"521\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 36pt;\">Make sure <strong>Census Subdivision<\/strong> is checked. Because we want to plot all the cities values. After all this click Next.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: 40pt;\"><strong>9.<\/strong><\/span> On the next window we will select the fields that we want to draw. See the image below. Check the Population 2001 and Population 2011, we will draw the bar chart diagram, by default it will draw bar chart.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 18pt;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/grindgis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/3e4c033d3de128d3a140d1e7660ee292.png\" alt=\"Population 2001 and Population 2011\" width=\"587\" height=\"475\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 18pt;\">On the map by default it will show the legend you can close it by clicking x button. If you need that back again then click the legend button. You can zoom in zoom out, adjust north or the map according to your need.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 18pt;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/grindgis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/011115_1434_CreateMapso26.png\" alt=\"Population 2001 and Population 2011 legend\" width=\"650\" height=\"536\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: 40pt;\"><strong>10.<\/strong><\/span> You can change the charts to clustered type by checking the clustered column. Map look will change. In same way we can change map type to heat map, bubble and to region (thematic map).<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 18pt;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/grindgis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/2c92f66c998def602c28ae1da19b8449.png\" alt=\"Microsoft clustered type\" width=\"660\" height=\"519\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: 40pt;\"><strong>11.<\/strong><\/span> On the below map the option is bubble with province total 2011 population.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 36pt;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/grindgis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/3e2e7c901d3347018368a02ad4da7f64.png\" alt=\"Microsoft Excel Map Bubble type\" width=\"655\" height=\"487\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: 40pt;\"><strong>12.<\/strong><\/span> Now to change the color click on the setting tab and change the blue color to green. Change the formatting option to get the better look.
