Geographic Information Systems (GIS)<\/strong> is an information system that is designed to represent manipulate analyze and store various geographic data. This technology is related to the field of Geography. This also means that the data on a GIS can include information about a specific location on Earth. GIS provides a combination of related data to the geographical locations which help people in understanding more about the location. This is done by providing representing the geographical location in various forms like longitude and latitude, postal address and zip code. A lot of data can be related to a geographical location which has increased the popularity of GIS as a tool that is efficient when it comes to problems regarding the geographical analysis. The data on the GIS can include information about population, income, education, location of water bodies like streams lakes, types of vegetation and types of soil. GIS enables mapping where things are in the geographical location with real-world features and visualize the relationship between them. With GIS, it is also possible to visually represent the quantity in a location. These quantities could be anything which can be represented by the number of dots on a map or with the intensity of colour. For example: if there are many dots in a certain area of the map, it represents the higher number of quantity. Same with the color, higher the intensity and shade of colour then the number of quantity is high. The colour can be also be mapped to scale in which a certain shade or intensity of colour represents a range of quantity. GIS also enable mapping density which means the concentration or the quantity in a certain area. This can also be done with the intensity and shade colors, as mentioned above. GIS also enables finding out ‘what is where’. For instance,<\/span> this can be used to find out what is happening or a feature in a certain location. This means that we can realize the characteristics of a specific location.
